Artist Statement

It's all about Texture

The creations are without specific intentions, allowing the marks and images to inspire my paintings' directions. The finished work becomes a product of self- awareness and discovery that originated during the art-making process. I enjoy tactile sensations as the paint is spread, creating unique and different dimensions. Testing in threads or other textures intrigues me as I journey through techniques. I am constantly changing, exploring, and evolving my curiosity. My work is vibrant, filled with energy and warmth; sometimes with conflicting emotions expressed by using red, orange, and purple. The lines in my work represent territorial feelings of the boundaries in my life. These lines symbolize separation between my past and growth in the future. Buried in each painting is a path; a path that follows direction or a path that creates freely. These paths lead me into a labyrinth of exploration. Once you discover these paths you find yourself trying to follow them. They are not easy to follow because they represent life. How it evolves and changes. As I watch the paint glide on the canvas by using different brushes and painting techniques, I find surprising results. When I complete a work of art, I feel as though I have created a revelation of life that allows others to see a beautiful piece of myself.
